Introduction to <cite> Tag

The HTML <cite> tag is used to represent the title of a work, such as a book, poem, movie or any other creative work. When this tag is invoked in a document, it provides a semantic meaning indicating that the text it wraps refers to a cited title. By default, the text inside the <cite> tag is styled in italics by most of the browsers.

The <cite> tag improves the accessibility and structure of the web content particularly for readers.

Syntax

Following is the syntax of HTML <cite> tag −.

<cite>...</cite>

Attributes

HTML cite tag supports Global and Event attributes of HTML.

Example : Citing a Book Title

In the following example, were creating an HTML document and using the <cite> tag to define the image. It will generate an output consisting of the image along with a text displayed on the webpage.

Consider the following example, where we are going to use the <cite> tag tp denote the title of the website.
